Naw, … I’m not very fond of flag-wavers of many sorts
Those who wave that of the U.S. of A., a “Confederate flag,” the Russian flag, MAGA flags of Trumpsters
I’m not generally fond of patriots
They can be dangerously nationalistic and even scarily fascist
War mongers are the worst
And we have too many on this old Eaarth
War … “a state of … armed hostile conflict between states or nations;” it kills … and “Thou shalt not kill!”
Soldier … “one engaged in a service intended for Warfare”
Crime … “a grave offense … against morality” whether of free will, laws of physics, or led by invisible hand economics
Criminal … a person who has committed a crime
War is a crime
And the process of making/being a soldier is criminal/a crime
……………….
That doesn’t mean that soldiers–young, old, bitter, wounded & suffering loss, seeking revenge–can’t become pacifists
And not be forgiven
